Not my first encounter but my closest one to date

I mentioned to my brother Pat 10 at the time, that I've been hearing wood chopping for the past halfanhour, he said me too. You want to go watch the lumberjacks? Ok. It was Saturday morning in late april. I escorted my youngest brother then 6 with me holding hands as we headed into the bush, the chopping was around 1 mile southeast of the lodge. Pat as always led the way, Paul and I followed as close as we could behind. We were walking an 1880's logging trail about 1/4 mile in, Pat points to his right and exclaims "look a hairy tree" I got to the spot he was pointing at a few seconds later, looked and saw, just Pine trees and a stump, I said "Oh yeah", not wanting to look like I wasn't observant.

We then followed Pat through the Pines and down to the swamp at the end of the bay for 20mins. As Pat was leading us across the swamp bottom and the next hill, he pointed to his right and exclaimed "look a Moose" I looked but what I saw was not a Moose but a tall man to my best estimate 10-12ft. tall, walking back and around the black spruce that were to my right, headed towards Pat to cut him off from going any further up the trail.

That's when a minute seemed like a lifetime! I looked at Pat, he looked at the creature, they locked eyes, Pat looked at me, then Pat lurched forward, I stood firm shielding Paul from looking at the horrible creature, Pat screamed in silence, he began falling and crying then got up and ran past us... the creature stepped into the path 12 feet from Paul and I then huffed/growled loudly at us, I again shifted to shield Paul, Pat scrambled up the pine needled hillside, I spoke, "don't run" Pat got his footing and was tearing off in haste, I held Paul close to me, turned away from the stare of the creature and walked slowly away, towards where Pat was out distancing us, I then yelled "Pat wait", "don't run" to no avail Pat ran faster than a deer. At the top of the hill I looked behind to see if we were being followed. What I saw next surprised me and I was lost for words, it was 3 or more creatures galloping through the swamp at right angles to our exit headed west towards the main road.

Paul and I were never the target. We arrived at the Lodge and we called for Pat. After no reply to our screams I decided we would head back down the main road to find Pat. I thought if he wanted to get out of the bush asap he would cut through the parking lot to the main road. As we walked slowly and quietly the 1/4 mile to the y in the road we heard panting, crying, whimpering and my brother Pat calling out my name. It took a minute to make out what I was hearing, but then I put it together, Pat was being chased and thrown to the ground several times. I heard woofing and crying. I screamed as hard as I could, before what I thought Pat was being trampled. PAAAAAAAAT!

The sounds stopped. Two minutes later Pat stumbled out of the bush, leaves, dirt and mud were all over him. I ran towards him quickly dragging Paul behind me. His shirt was torn elbows were bleeding eyes were tearing hands were bloody and mud packed, his hat was gone and his shoes were a mess. What I heard next was not something I was prepared for. I asked what happened? He said a guy chased me, while he sobbed and blubbered... I could hardly make out his words. When you yelled he ran off. Then Pat told me where it happened, I understood this time between his whimpers and sobs. It was an old concrete foundation where the guy stepped out behind a Maple tree then started to chase him around.

Pat cried hard the rest of the way home, and kept thanking me. Paul and I felt bad, we almost cried too, no one wants a friend to suffer like this, especially your brother. I walked up the front steps with Pat still balling and beaten. My Mom came outside and let into me without remorse, she thought I had beaten the crap out of my little brother again. I had to protect my head and face from being slapped with those long skinny finger nails. Pat screamed at my Mom, "he didn't do it!".

Paul and I left immediately to the back 40 to get away from any threats probably more imagined than real from my parents. We sat out near cabin 6, the bat house and I now informed him of what I thought happened. He was glad he didn't see any monsters he called them. We left cabin 6 and went fishing on the dock beside the Lodge.

No sooner did we get settled into fishing my Mom yells out my name. Christ I'm dead I thought. I drop my rod on the dock and ask Paul to watch my bobber. Now while I'm scurrying up the steps I run into an O.P.P. Sargeant coming out of my house. My Mom says go with him! Pointing her finger at the Policeman. I follow on foot behind the Cop car to where Pat came out of the bush. Sargeant Sleep asked me "did you see the man that chased your brother?" I replied "it wasn't a man" He asked "what was it?" I said "I don't know what it was, but it wasn't a man" He asked "what did it look like?" I grabbed my t-shirt by the shoulders and lifted them up to my ears and said, "it looked like this" He told me to go sit beside the car.

As I sat there I saw a 172 Cessna plane fly overhead, just 50feet over the tree tops. There was chatter on the police radio and Sargeant Sleep answered the call. A second later a Lands and Forest car pulled up beside the Police car, both men got out and greeted each other. They spoke low so as I couldn't hear them. I don't remember the Lands and Forest guys name or rank if he even told me, but he waved me over and asked me twenty questions. I answered them as best I could, not knowing where he was going or what he wanted. I was then asked to go sit down next to Mr. Sleep's car.

The two Officer's talked for 15 minutes then the L&F Officer returned his wave to me. I followed his gesture back to his car. He opened a notebook and showed me a pencil drawing of a creature, "did it look like this?", he asked. I exclaimed "yeah that's him, that's the guy". Again he repeated OK go sit by the car.

Truth was in 1968, "children should to be seen, not heard".

It was after the plane stopped circling and the L&F guy took off that Mr. Sleep provided me with the following facts he had heard from my brother less than an hour ago. He said my brother's description was a man in a blue mechanic's suit with a dark colored helmet and large rubber boots was chasing him. Therefore they were looking into a prison escapee that may have tried to take your brother hostage. I suggested we go in there where my brother was chased and look for footprints, because it's wet and all muddy in there now. He told me "stay right here!" why I asked? He said "we're being watched!" I still didn't catch the drift, I repeated I'll go in and just take a look around, he grabbed my arm and said look up behind my left shoulder, "is that what you saw?" I peered into the Maple trees and I saw standing there in plain site 3 or 4 large beings that I'm sure at the time looked just like Neanderthals. Ok! I said, we should go! It was the scariest 1/4 mile walk back I've ever known.
